Sealants

Recognized by the American Dental Association as a key means of cavity prevention, dental sealants are a clear or white resin material that is placed in the grooves of the biting surfaces of back teeth. These deep grooves and pits of back teeth are very difficult to keep clean. Plaque, a nearly invisible biofilm of bacteria collects in these grooves. Every time you eat, the bacteria in plaque use this food to form acids which can cause the enamel to break down and form a cavity. Sealants act as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids.

Comfortable & Highly Effective Treatment

Sealants are easy for your dental professional to apply and the procedure requires no numbing or drilling. We will first thoroughly clean the grooves with air abrasion and then apply a conditioning solution. The dental sealant is then flowed into the grooves of the chewing surface and hardened with a special curing light. The entire procedure is fast, easy, comfortable and highly effective!

A major step in maintaining a healthy mouth is preventing tooth decay, and sealants, when combined with good homecare, fluoride supplements and regular dental visits, can offer major protection against cavities. Ask us about whether sealants can put extra power behind your prevention program.
